Learning new stuff every day, which is what I was counting on. Despite that I`m still far away from what one would call Drupal developer.

My current assignments - adding new features to existing project and migrating data over to new project management tool. So far I have refreshed my skills core Drupal modules and also learned to use some new ones - Search API, QuickTabs, Taxonomy and more. Search API involved messing around with Apache Solr, which was royal pain in the rear end to set up. Fortunately every IT2010 student at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is a professional at installing new stuff thanks to Java Programming course (WIN). Good times, eh... One thing for sure - setting up all of that on Linux is definitely much easier than fighting with Windows ports and Environment variables.
Miss home? That`s ok. Fiew blocks down there is a supermarket where You can get some Polish things. Mokoroni po flotski, here I come!
As I have mentioned in one of my last tweets: "One problem with Linux is that You want to tinker it all the time. Why? Because You can." Usually I start tinkering around because there are some performance issues. And once again they come down to Unity desktop environment. With the last (13.04) Ubuntu release performance has become much better, but still, under heavy load it struggles with maintaining stable performance. My system specs are fairly average for modern laptop (3rd gen. Intel i5, 4GB of RAM and regular HDD), but it ain`t exactly slow either. Might be that with dedicated graphics it takes some of the load off the CPU and performs better. For now I`m using Gnome Fallback mode. And even with Cairo dock running without OpenGL it outperforms Unity.

So that`s my monthly technical confession. There will be more of them despite the fact that it will annoy Līga, who by the way is arriving tomorrow! Yaaay, no more random forever alone evenings! We managed to find a new apartment to move in on Friday/Saturday. Thank god terminal for that. Was already starting to worry.

A view years ago when I was in Belgium, one of my friends took picture of every single beer type that he tried. I will try to follow his example.
Achievment unlocked: "Drunk Vedett" (Inside joke)

My second favorite
My third favorite

Beers here are generally different than back home. They are stronger and in smaller volumes. My favorite so far is the one that I drunk at the local festival – Patershol (probably spelled that wrong anyway). Can`t remember the name, but got small beer cup in memory of good evening.
Patershol

Some place that will be torn down in a few weeks. But for now... a pub! :)

Beach next to the pub.
